of the Notting Hill Carnival

Book launch and Photography Exhibition

Saturday 9th August

6:30pm - 9:30pm

RiceNPeas in association with Carnival Village Trust Presents

Carnival - A Photographic and Testimonial History of the Notting Hill Carnival is a monumental work: the first book ever published that tells the story of how this world-renowned event came to be and the people who created it.

Written by Ishmahil Blagrove and Margaret Busby, and featuring testimonies and images from the earliest years to the present day, this book dispels many of the myths that have circulated over the decades, while celebrating the contributions made by the pioneers, the participants and the wider multicultural community of Notting Hill.

The book launch and photographic exhibition will be followed by a talk 'Carnival's Contribution to Britain', and will be attended by many of the early pioneers of the event.

The evening will close with an awards ceremony honouring those who have made the Carnival what it is today.
