Look The Other Way is an exhibition being held at London’s Stephen Lawrence Gallery, between 7th April – 5th May. Featuring the work of four British artists: Kofi Allen, Godfrey Donkor, Mary Evans and Errol Francis, the exhibition explores the artists' conceptions of cultural identity, sense of belonging, and the impact of slavery.
For a four-person exhibition, you would expect more pieces to be on show. You can virtually cover the entire range within 10-15 minutes, including the time spent assessing your thoughts and those of the artists. The great centrepiece of this exhibition is the photography of one of Britain’s most creative culturographers, Kofi Allen. His meticulous attention to detail and cultural symbolism breaks the mould of mediocrity and sets his work apart, even from those at the top end of their game. If you are a photographer or simply someone interested in the visual arts, Kofi’s two-piece contribution makes this exhibition well worth attending.
